Fiber Distributed Data Interface
In the middle of the 80’s, the first high speed network
Data are transmitted at 100 Mbits/s
The frame is up to 4500 bytes long
Access to the media is controlled by a token (a special frame) circulating on a double ring
- the emitting station waits for the token and takes it to transmit
- the receiving station releases the token after reception
