TCP/IP: IP address-1

• IP hosts are designated by an unique number: the IP address

• This address is 4 bytes long (32 bits) and is noted in decimal doted format: 134.158.69.191

• This gives around 4 billions address, grouped in networks

• each network is a group of incremental IP address, e.g. 134.158.0.0 to 134.158.255.255 belong to the 134.158.0.0 network
