The TCP/IP model: history

• In the beginning of the 70’s, a study for the American DoD leads to a new network architecture: TCP/IP

• This architecture was based on a interconnection of networks organised without hierarchy

• In the beginning of the 90’s, this gives the Internet

• Protocols are described in public documents: the RFCs (Request For Comment)
